Student Accidentally Shoots Herself at Grady High - Midtown Patch

A 17-year-old student at a local high school?shot herself in the upper leg Wednesday morning on school grounds, in what police are calling an accidental shooting.

The shooting occurred on the?Grady High School?campus in the courtyard outside the buidlings.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said units responded to a shooting call at the school around 9:40 am.

"Preliminary information is that the gunshot was accidental and self-inflicted," Campos said, who added that the student was transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition, and the weapon has been recovered. Midtown Patch has more on this story.

3 Masked Men Seek 'James,' Steal iPhone in Apparent Home Invasion - Cartersville Patch

A Cartersville teen told police three men looking for a "James" stormed her apartment, threw her to the ground and took her iPhone in an apparent home invasion-type robbery at a local apartment complex.

The woman, 19, was apparently home alone about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when she inadvertently opened the door to three men wearing scarves covering their faces, according to the?Cartersville Police Department?incident report, attached. The men pushed her to the ground of the Old Mill Road apartment and one said "not to move or he would shoot her."

Another man got on top of her and screamed, "Where is James?" But the victim said she doesn't know a "James." Cartersville Patch has more on this story.

Cassandra Norwood Pleads Not Guilty in Stabbing Death of Newborn - Athens Patch

Cassandra Norwood, 21, was?arrested last fall and accused of stabbing to death?her own newborn in her family home on the Eastside of Athens. She had hidden her pregnancy from her parents and allegedly hid the baby's body in a trashcan after she killed him.

On Tuesday, in Clarke County Superior Court, Norwood pled not guilty to charges of malice murder for the death of the infant boy, according to?a story in the Athens Banner Herald.?She also pled not guilty to felony murder, aggravated assault and charges of possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. Winder Teen Faces Charges After Police Say He Stabbed Brother - Barrow Patch

A 16-year-old Winder resident is facing an aggravated assault charge after allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old brother in the stomach.?

The stabbing reportedly happened about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at a residence in the 200 block of Russell Road, where a family gathering was being held.?

According to a news release from the?Winder Police Department, the victim was involved in an argument with his 16-year-old brother that turned physical. Police say the dispute moved to an area within the home where other family members were not present and the teen had a knife that is believed to have been taken from the kitchen, where the argument began.
