The Atlantic could be the most competitive division in the Eastern Conference, and Philadelphia is currently tied for third.
With their 99-93 win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers (5-4) tied the Boston Celtics for third place in the Atlantic Division. It was a big victory for the 76ers, who were coming off two straight disappointing losses to the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks.
Philadelphia still trails the Brooklyn Nets (5-2), who have won four games in a row. Brooklyn holds a 2-0 record within the Atlantic Division, including a win over the Celtics on Thursday.
The New York Knicks (6-1) remain atop the division, despite suffering their first loss on Friday, which came at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies. The night before, however, New York managed an impressive victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Around the Eastern Conference, the defending champion Miami Heat (7-3) appear to be as solid as they were last year. The Milwaukee Bucks (5-2) currently lead the Central Division, but they remain relatively untested, as three of their five victories were over teams that currently have a losing record.
